Head of Policy


About the role

At Temper, we are looking for a talented individual to join us as the Head of Policy for the Netherlands, France, and the UK. 

With your comprehensive understanding of the public policy, regulatory environment, and the key stakeholders within it, you will be able to manage and drive complex projects and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity. 

As a confident leader, you will operate respectfully and collaboratively within wider regional and international structures. In this role, you will be reporting to the CEO.

What you will be doing

  • Develop, lead, and implement public affairs strategies and programs to help facilitate an enabling environment for the future of work.

  • Assess and communicate potential regulatory threats and business opportunities, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies, and policy positions.

  • Coordinate external advocacy and outreach programs and key initiatives.

  • Leverage senior-level expertise in establishing new and maintaining existing relationships with an extensive network of key policymakers, government stakeholders, and influencers.

  • Provide senior-level insights and navigate complex issues, by finding common ground with multiple constituencies with differing, and often opposing perspectives.

  • Act as Temper’s representative in meetings with government and political stakeholders, in coalitions and collaborations to advance Temper’s advocacy initiatives.

  • Draft public policy positions, arguments, and materials, working with colleagues in our legal and product teams.

  • Safeguard Temper’s policy standpoints in its external communications.

This role is a good fit if you have...

  • Between 5 to 7 years of experience in local or national politics, government, regulation, public affairs, political campaigning, or in the field of corporate public policy or non-governmental organization.

  • Expertise in policy related to the labor market, digital platforms, or the digital economy is a big plus.

  • Proven ability to establish networks within political stakeholder communities on regional, national, and/or European levels.

  • First-rate interpersonal, political, analytical, and organizational skills. Project Management skills are a must.

  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, writing, and presentation abilities.

  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving and sometimes stressful environment.

  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, encompassing both written and spoken communication.
